Counselling for ADHD

Living with ADHD can be exhausting, confusing, and overwhelming — especially if you weren’t diagnosed until adulthood. Many people spend years masking, pushing through burnout, or feeling “too much” and “not enough” at the same time. You might have carried shame, self‑criticism, or a sense of being fundamentally different without knowing why.

You are not broken. Your brain is not a problem to be fixed. And you don’t need to explain or justify your way of being here.

I offer a calm, steady, neurodiversity‑affirming space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace and begin to understand yourself more kindly.

My lived experience

I have lived experience of ADHD myself, including receiving my diagnosis later in life. I understand the mix of relief, grief, clarity, and confusion that can come with suddenly seeing your past through a new lens. The years of masking. The burnout. The “why didn’t anyone notice?” The slow, steady work of rebuilding your sense of self.

This experience helps me offer grounded, compassionate support for adults who feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or unsure where to begin.

What ADHD can look like

ADHD shows up differently for everyone. You might recognise yourself in some of these experiences:

  • difficulty starting tasks, even ones you care about

  • losing focus or drifting during conversations

  • feeling overstimulated or overwhelmed

  • struggling with organisation or planning

  • intense emotions or rejection sensitivity

  • masking your struggles to appear “fine”

  • burnout from years of pushing yourself

  • feeling misunderstood or “too much”

None of these traits make you lazy, careless, or incapable. They are part of a neurotype — not a personal failing.

Online ADHD Therapy for Adults in the UK

I work with adults of all genders, whether diagnosed or self-identified, to offer support that’s flexible, validating, and truly collaborative.

My approach is:

✅ Person-Centred

You set the pace and agenda. Therapy is about what matters to you — not ticking off a treatment checklist.

✅ Lived Experience-Informed

As someone with ADHD, I know first-hand how layered and misunderstood it can be. You won’t need to explain or justify your way of being here.

✅ Neurodiversity-Affirming

We’ll work with your brain, not against it — supporting your strengths while gently exploring the challenges.

✅ Emotionally Safe and Non-Judgemental

Therapy is a place where you’re listened to, not pathologised — even if your experiences haven’t been believed elsewhere.

How Counselling can help

Counselling offers a space where you can talk openly about your experiences without judgement or pressure. Together, we can explore:

  • the emotional impact of late diagnosis

  • masking, burnout, and self‑criticism

  • identity shifts and self‑understanding

  • relationships, boundaries, and communication

  • shame, overwhelm, and rejection sensitivity

  • how ADHD interacts with chronic illness, anxiety, or exhaustion

Therapy can help you make sense of your story, reconnect with your strengths, and build a kinder relationship with yourself.

No diagnosis? No problem.

You don’t need a formal diagnosis to come to therapy. Many people explore ADHD long before they reach assessment, or while they’re waiting on long NHS lists. If you’re wondering whether ADHD might be part of your story, we can explore that gently together.

What to expect

Sessions last 50 minutes and are shaped around what feels most important to you. I won’t give advice or tell you what to do. Instead, I offer a warm, steady presence where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences safely and honestly.

You won’t need to mask here. You won’t need to perform. You can simply be yourself.

Your next step

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or unsure how to make sense of your ADHD experiences, you’re welcome to reach out for a complimentary introductory consultation. It’s a chance to talk about what’s brought you here, ask any questions, and get a feel for whether therapy feels right for you.

There’s no pressure or expectation — just a gentle space to begin.
